Barcelona worried of Tottenham transfer hijacking

Reports suggest that Barcelona are worried that Tottenham Hotspur may be able to hijack their bid to sign a U21 Dutch international.

The Spanish giants are now desperately trying to rush through a deal for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, with Spurs lurking in the background.

Pochettino is said to be looking to strengthen his midfield options for the latter stages of the season.

De Jong is extremely highly rated within the Netherlands and Ajax football club and has been highly sought over for the past season.

The midfield starlet is said to be worth around £40m, which could be far above what Daniel Levy is willing to pay.

Tottenham will be hoping that their good relationship with Ajax will help them secure De Jong’s signature.

Current first team players Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen, and Davinson Sanchez were all purchased from the Dutch club, with Toby Alderweireld having also played there.

Should Tottenham compete for De Jong’s signature, even if it means paying a huge sum of money?
