‘Bargain’ – Some Spurs are divided over potential move for striker

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly involved in the race to land AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek for £30 million this month (The Guardian).

The Polish international rose to prominence thanks to his lethal form with Genoa at the start of last season.

His performances eventually earned him a move to AC Milan and after making a fine start to life at his new club, the striker has fallen short of his high standards so far this campaign.

The 24-year-old has only scored four times in eighteen Serie A appearances this season (transfermarkt) and it is suggested that Milan are open to letting him leave following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Spurs are said to be keen on adding a striker to their squad after Harry Kane tore his hamstring and have reportedly identified Piatek as a potential target.

While some Spurs fans felt that the Polish international represent a bargain for the reported £30m fee, others insisted that the club would be wise to stay away from the striker due to his struggles in finding the back of the net in Italy this season:

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Kane hadn’t been out injured, we still desperately needed to add another centre forward to the squad. Not only do we need a striker to serve as back up to Kane and take the pressure off him but we currently have no Plan B if things aren’t going for us like we did when we had Llorente. Piatek fits the profile of what Spurs need and isn’t too expensive.
