Sebastien Bassong has spoken of his delight at his impending move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Newcastle defender is expected to officially complete his move south after the Magpies opening Championship fixture on Saturday, which will mean he will only be suspended for Tottenham’s Premiership opener against Liverpool.
Bassong said: ‘I am very, very happy to be here and that is why I am smiling so much!
‘Spurs are a famous team in Europe and the world, everyone knows the players here.
‘The manager is famous with a good reputation, that is why I didn’t hesitate to come here.’
‘It has been an interesting year and I learned a lot at Newcastle,’ added Bassong.
‘I’m really happy to have played for Newcastle but had to move to improve myself and make a step forward in my career. I’m sure Spurs will be a good thing for me.’
