Bayern Munich director says the last thing Tottenham want to hear about Harry Kane

Bayern Munich’s director, Christoph Freund, has now opened up on Harry Kane’s future, and Tottenham Hotspur fans will not like it.

There has been a great deal of discussion surrounding the future of Harry Kane, whose current contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire in two years.

The striker, now 32, has been in remarkable form in Germany, scoring 18 goals in just ten club appearances so far this season.

His consistency and professionalism have not gone unnoticed, and reports now suggest that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Kane’s situation, while talk of a possible return to Tottenham and the Premier League has also surfaced in recent weeks.

Bayern Munich director speaks on Harry Kane’s future amid Tottenham return rumours

Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, has now spoken publicly about Kane’s situation, offering a glimpse into how both parties view the player’s long-term future.

Freund, speaking to Sky90, made it clear that both sides are content with the current arrangement, even hinting that discussions could extend beyond the existing deal.

He said: “Both us and Harry Kane’s side can easily imagine continuing together beyond the end of the current contract. Harry feels very comfortable in Munich. That is why we hope he will stay in Munich for a few more years.”

What Kane’s situation means for Tottenham and Spurs fans

Harry Kane himself has repeatedly stated that he is happy at Bayern Munich and that his focus remains firmly on achieving success in Germany.

Nevertheless, the speculation in England refuses to die down. Many pundits still wonder whether the lure of returning to Tottenham, or at least the Premier League, might tempt him one last time in pursuit of Alan Shearer’s all-time scoring record.

Gary Neville and Ian Wright have both suggested that a return to the Premier League for Kane could still materialise, though that depends heavily on how long Kane chooses to remain in Bavaria.

Should the England captain extend his stay at Bayern, Tottenham may stand to lose the first-refusal clause they reportedly inserted when agreeing the deal.

Furthermore, his current release clause, believed to allow clubs to sign him for less than £60 million in 2026, could be revised or removed entirely – a development that could all but end Spurs’ faint hopes of a reunion.
