Bayern Munich have other target in case Spurs will not sell Harry Kane

Bayern Munich may be linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane, but reports suggest he’s not the only striker they are looking at, with Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram also on their radar.

Oliver Kahn, Bayern’s CEO had previously described a move for Kane as a ‘dream’ (Sport Bild), while manager Julian Naglesmann has not ruled out a move for the England captain (TalkSport).

With his contract running out at Tottenham and talks seemingly on hold until after the World Cup this winter (Evening Standard), Kane has been earmarked for a move to the Bundesliga giants next summer (TZ).

It still remains to be seen whether Kane would want to move to Germany though, new contract at Spurs or not. With this in mind, Bayern are drawing up contingency plans and may even bolster their attacking options as early as January.

According to L’Equipe, the Bundesliga giants are turning their attention to Marcus Thuram, who currently plays for league rivals Monchengladbach. The 25-year-old has 11 goals in 13 games this season already (Transfermarkt).

The Frenchman is reportedly worth around £38 million (Bild) but Thuram’s contract with Gladbach is up in 2023, so a cut-price deal could be struck in the January transfer window.

Thuram has previously been linked with Premier League side Everton (Talking Transfers), though it’s unclear whether Frank Lampard would make a move now that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back to fitness and scoring again.

Spurs Web Opinion

You’d have to think that if Bayern Munich do move for Marcus Thuram in January, it would become very unlikely that they would come in for Harry Kane. Hopefully, they can secure a deal for Thuram and leave Kane alone so that he can focus on a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur.
