Bayern Munich hopeful that first-teamer will be fit in time for Spurs clash

After coming away with a point from their away trip to Olympiacos last week, the game against Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Tuesday has even more urgency to secure a win.

The Bundesliga champions come into the game having comfortably beaten Red Star Belgrade 3-0 at home and given Spurs’ average start to the season, the game will be a difficult test for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Bayern have just received a major boost ahead of the match next week with their first-team coach Niko Kovac suggesting that David Alaba could be fit to take to the field against Spurs.

Ahead of their game against Red Star, Kovac had cast some doubt over the Austrian international’s chances of being fit for the game in London (AS).

However, One Football quotes the Croat as saying, “David is making very good progress. We hope he can compete against Tottenham.

“We now have to increase the intensity daily before he can start team training. The game against Paderborn comes a bit too early.”

A win for the men from Munich next week will put them in the driving seat to finish top of the group but a win for Pochettino’s side will see them leapfrogging Bayern and might help to finally kick start their season.
