Bayern Munich man directly responds to speculation linking him with Spurs move

Jerome Boateng has admitted that he was surprised to see speculation linking him with a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur, insisting that he has not received news of any interest from the North Londoners.

Boateng’s current contract at the Allianz Arena is set to run out at the end of this season, with Bild’s Christian Falk claiming earlier this week that Tottenham were monitoring the central defender’s situation closely.

Reports from Germany then claimed this week that Bayern have decided not to offer the 32-year-old a new contract and that Spurs were battling Arsenal and Chelsea for the experienced defender’s signature (SportBild via Daily Mail).

Boateng has previously admitted that he would be open to a return to the Premier League, having always been a fan of the division (Guardian).

However, the former Manchester City man denied any knowledge of Tottenham’s interest when asked if a move to Jose Mourinho’s side was on the cards for him.

He told Suddeutsche Zeitung (as relayed by Evening Standard): “Nobody approached me, nobody spoke to me, I didn’t know anything about it, I was surprised.”
