‘Been worse’ – Chris Sutton shares his Spurs v Newcastle score prediction

Former Celtic and Blackburn Rovers forward Chris Sutton has shared his score prediction prior to the Premier League encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Tottenham need to dust themselves off after being second best in all departments against Manchester United in midweek with defeat having cost them the opportunity of moving to second in the table.

Newcastle have had a solid start to the season and have only lost once during the opening eleven matches, a last-gasp defeat at Anfield.

Sutton believes that it will be a case of more disappointment for the north Londoners with Eddie Howe’s side taking all three points back to Tyneside.

He told BBC Sport: “I really like what Eddie Howe is doing at Newcastle. They are defensively sound, but they always create chances too and they are a team full of confidence.

“Tottenham have been getting some good results without playing particularly well, or at least they were until they went to Old Trafford on Wednesday.

“That defeat would have been worse if not for some good saves by Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris, and they might need him to keep him in this game too.

“Sutton’s prediction: 1-2”

Tottenham face the risk of dropping down the table if they are unable to beat Newcastle United at home, a game on paper with the greatest respect that they should be expecting to win if they have any aspirations of bettering last season’s fourth place finish.
