Atalanta goalkeeper, Pierluigi Gollini, has given a clear response when asked about the speculation surrounding his future.
Gollini’s performances for Atalanta this season have shot him to prominence as he has been a crucial part of the Serie A side’s impressive campaign.
The shot-stopper is reportedly available for just €20 million this summer, according to reports from Italy.
A report in Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) suggested last month that the Lilywhites are hesitant to hand Hugo Lloris a new contract, with his current deal running out in the summer of 2022.
The report claimed that Tottenham saw the Atalanta star as an ideal option as they didn’t want to spend too big on a goalkeeping recruit this summer.
However, although Gollini admitted that he is flattered with the interest in him, he has now revealed his desire to stay with Atalanta.
When asked about the speculation surrounding his future, the goalkeeper told Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness): “Other than the fact [the market] will be very influenced by the current situation, I have never thought about it, let alone now: it would be a lack of respect to Atalanta and Bergamo.

“Being appreciated is a pleasure, but it does not trigger certain feelings with me.
“I feel very close to the Atalanta family, and even more to Bergamo right now. I don’t choose between Italy and England: I choose Bergamo. It is the right thing and the one I feel.”

While it is understandable that the club are already on the lookout for Hugo’s long-term successor, I don’t expect us to sign any top goalkeeper this summer. I believe we will likely sign a third choice to replace Michel Vorm and manage one more year with Hugo as our first choice before reassessing the situation next summer.
