‘Being very diplomatic’ – Bale’s agent clarifies if player fell out with Jose Mourinho

Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett has provided an insight into the Welshman’s return to Tottenham Hotspur last season.

Bale arrived back in North London on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid and the deal was met with much fanfare from some fans who even decided to line the street outside of the club’s Hotspur Way training facility to sing his name ahead of his medical (BBC).

Despite the excitement of the return of the favourite son, the 32-year-old did not exactly gel with Jose Mourinho, with The Mirror claiming that the pair did not see eye to eye on matters.

Barnett has offered a diplomatic view of the pair, having claimed there was no falling out between player and manager but it was instead a difference of opinion on their footballing ideals.

Bale made just 10 Premier League starts last season and signed off on the final day of the season with a brace against Leicester City to secure Spurs a place in the Europa Conference League and yet another finish above Arsenal (transfermarkt).

He told The Mirror: “At Spurs, there wasn’t a fall out,

“I just think they didn’t see football the same way – I’m being very diplomatic here.

“Let’s just say it wasn’t the best return to a club in history.”
