Ben Davies comments on potential Gareth Bale return to Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League round of 16 second leg tonight, taking a 3-0 lead into the tie.

However, Welshman Ben Davies was asked about more than the huge game ahead during his pre-match press conference yesterday.

Tottenham and Gareth Bale seem to have a never ending love affair, with the Welsh wizard linked to a Spurs return each and every transfer window.

With the summer fast approaching, the rumour mill has begun to churn again, with Ben Davies being asked about the future of his fellow countryman.

Bale joined Real Madrid from Spurs back in 2013, and has since scored 101 goals in 218 appearances for the European giants.

However that hasn’t stopped the Madrid fans from jeering him of late, with Bale’s agent labelling them as ‘a disgrace.’

Perhaps now could be the perfect time for Tottenham to make a move for their former fan favourite, however Ben Davies played down a move.

He said (SkySports): “I don’t know if that’s even possible.

“When we play with him for the international team he’s a leader. He sets an example on the pitch and he’s a joy to play with.”
