Ben Davies explains ‘strange’ feeling at Tottenham this season after ‘difficult’ decision

Ben Davies has admitted why this season feels very strange for him at Tottenham, and Spurs fans will not be surprised by the reason.

Davies was one of the first signings of the Mauricio Pochettino era, arriving at Tottenham in 2014 from his boyhood club Swansea City.

The defender is now in his 12th season at the North London club and is hugely respected by his teammates and the staff at the club.

In fact, Davies has been named by Thomas Frank in his Tottenham leadership group, even though he has not played a single minute this season, which shows how highly he is valued in the dressing room.

Ben Davies admits he misses his best friend at Tottenham

Out of Davies’ 11 previous seasons at Tottenham, Heung-min Son has been at the club for 10 of those.

The South Korean arrived just a year after the defender, and the Welshman saw the forward grow into a superstar, club legend and captain.

The pair became very close on the pitch, with Davies even naming Son as the godfather to his son, and the former Swansea man has admitted that it is strange not to see his best friend at Hotspur Way daily.

When asked about not having Son at the club anymore, the defender said: “Obviously, it’s quite strange being at this club without him, for the time we spent here together, I still speak to him all the time, he’s had a good couple of months and he seems to be enjoying it over there, but I know how difficult a decision for him it was to leave Tottenham.”

Heung-min Son has made an admission about Spurs return

Heung-min Son has made the MLS look easy since his move to LAFC, having scored eight goals and provided three assists in nine outings.

Last month, Son admitted that he would love to say goodbye at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having not had a chance to do that in the summer.

One would fully expect the South Korean to pay a visit to North London once the MLS season comes to an end in December, and there is no doubt that he will get an amazing reception.
