Ben Davies has been discussing all things Tottenham lately, explaining why he thought Spurs would win a trophy this year, and what he thinks the future looks like for the club now.

Tottenham have not won a trophy since 2008
Very few people would have predicted a trophy in Ange Postecoglou‘s first season at Tottenham, but after ten games in charge, a title challenge very much appeared to be on.
Unfortunately, the wheels came off after the defeat to Chelsea at the start of November, with an injury crisis hampering the Lilywhites’ progress.
A patchy run of form in the latter half of the season didn’t help, and Spurs ultimately, missed out on a top-four spot in the Premier League, having to settle for fifth place and Europa League football in the end.

Davies sees success in Tottenham’s future
This, twinned with a fairly miserable showing in both domestic cups, left Spurs with another trophyless season. But, Ben Davies thinks good times lie ahead.
He told the Business of Sport podcast: “I think the thing we’re always going to have put back at us is lack of trophies and that’s far from the want of trying. It’s been something that we’ve been desperate to do for a long time, but it’s the biggest thing that we all want at this club.
“It can be very frustrating for us as players but at the same time, you always appreciate that the club has gone through a lot of change. We’ve moved stadium, we spent a couple of years at Wembley. It all felt a bit crazy at the time but I really feel like we’ve built that foundation now.
“Things aren’t going to happen overnight but we’ve built that foundation and we have an opportunity in the next couple of years.”
Davies goes on to explain that he thought “this year was our time,” but discusses the “incredibly challenging industry” he is involved in.
“Just spending the biggest money doesn’t guarantee you the results,” he said. “It’s about building that team and getting it right. It’s probably the hardest thing to do in sport.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I have no doubt we have trophies on the way at Spurs now. Postecoglou has fundamentally changed the whole ethos of the club, and if we buy into that from top to bottom, success will come.
