Heung-min Son’s best mate Ben Davies has now opened up on his friend’s emotional return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Slavia Prague.

It all went according to plan for Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night under the lights at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Frank’s side beat Slavia Prague 3-0 in the Champions League and closed the gap between themselves and the top eight, while Heung-min Son was in the stands watching.

Ahead of kickoff, Spurs fans finally got a chance to bid farewell to the club legend, who departed in the summer and currently plies his trade in the MLS.

North London remains home for the former Tottenham captain who spent a decade in N17, forming bonds of friendship not just with the fans but with his teammates.

Ben Davies on Heung-min Son’s return to Tottenham

Ben Davies is currently the longest-serving player at Tottenham, and the Welshman is close friends with Heung-min Son.

He was one of those delighted to see Son return to north London to say a proper goodbye to thousands of Tottenham supporters who had cheered him on for years.

Speaking in the mixed zone after the match, Davies opened up on how special it felt to see his former teammate back where he built his legacy, highlighting how the moment meant a great deal to both player and club.

He said, “It was really nice to see him. We stay in touch all the time, so it was not such a novelty for me, but it was great for the club and great for the fans to have a good send-off.

“He keeps being the good luck charm for this club [after watching the win vs Slavia Prague]. He was very emotional [about his mural] and it meant a lot for him to have his stamp on the area.”

When asked if he missed his close friend day to day around the training ground, Davies added:

“Yeah, just day-to-day, being around the place, but we are close enough, and we still stay in touch all the time.”

Ben Davies reflects on the reception from Spurs fans

The Welshman has barely featured this season because of a long-term injury, but he got a run out against Prague in front of his best mate.

On the cheer he received from Tottenham supporters on his return from injury, Davies spoke with pride about the love shown from the stands, noting how much it means to represent the badge whenever he steps back on the pitch.

He added: “Yeah, it was really nice and I really, really did appreciate it. It is a club that means so much to me and I am glad to hopefully put a smile on the fans’ faces, and I felt really appreciated tonight, which was nice. I want to play as much as I can.”
