Bent urges Everton to sign experienced Tottenham player after injury blow

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent believes that Everton should make a move for out-of-favour Spurs star Danny Rose in January following an injury to Lucas Digne.

Rose has not been included either in the Premier League or Europa League squad at Tottenham and his days at the club appear to be numbered.

Football.London recently reported that the 30-year-old, whose contract with Spurs runs out in the summer, is expected to leave in January but Tottenham do not expect to receive a transfer fee for him.

Everton have been linked with some of Spurs’ fringe players in Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Paulo Gazzaniga but Rose has not previously been mentioned as a target for the Toffees.

Carlo Ancelotti has now confirmed that Digne is expected to be out of action for a number of months and admitted that it is a massive blow to Everton.

Bent believes that the Merseysiders should act swiftly to bring Rose to Goodison Park in January.

The pundit told Football Insider: “I’d even maybe look at Danny Rose as well in January because obviously, Lucas Digne is a very good player but as something’s happened to him, you need cover.

“If you’ve got Danny Rose there, he’d be another one I’d look at as well. That’s the one thing Everton lack, squad depth.

“For me, that’d be one I’d definitely look at, I’m sure there are going to be a few in for him but what he can’t afford to do is sit out another half a season without playing any games.”
