Bentancur reveals which Tottenham player has most ‘surprised’ him so far

Rodrigo Bentancur has revealed he has been most surprised by the quality of Harry Kane out of the entire Tottenham squad.

Bentancur, 24, linked up with Spurs from Juventus on transfer deadline day in January and has quickly made an impact on his new side having secured starts in seven of eight Premier League games he has been fit for (Transfermarkt)

It comes after the Uruguayan received irregular minutes at former employers Juventus, whose side is jam-packed with talent all across the pitch.

Having played alongside star players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala, Bentancur has been used to a dressing room full of big names.

But his arrival at Spurs has seen him become teammates with England captain Kane, who has been one of the world’s top strikers for a number of years now.

The 28-year-old underwent a tricky start to his campaign, but has seen a resurgence under Antonio Conte on both a goal-scoring and creative level.

And Kane has seemingly left a good impression on Bentancur, who was asked which Tottenham teammate had ‘surprised’ him the most so far.

He said via ESPN Argentina (Translated by SportWitness): “Technically and physically, he is an incredible player, very complete; it is an honour and a pleasure to have him as a team-mate.”

Kane is Tottenham’s big-name player and Bentancur has quickly realised that –  particularly with some of his performances in recent matches.

It shows exactly why the club was so keen to keep him last summer as he is that much of a key piece towards them being competitive.

He had a tough start to this season but his level has really elevated under Conte across all fronts which has kept Spurs in the hunt for a top-four spot.
