Dimitar Berbatov believes he made the right decision in leaving Tottenham Hotspur to join Manchester United.

The Bulgarian striker returns to White Hart Lane this evening in as bid to end Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign.

Berbatov told The Sun: “I enjoyed my time there (at Spurs) and the fans were very good to me.

“But when you hear a club like Manchester United are interested and you have the chance to play in the Champions League, it is impossible to say no.

“I have ambitions and at my age it was the right time to try and achieve those.”

Berbatov added: “I credit my success to my mother. Her prayers and support are everything to me.

“I know all she does for me and I know nothing I do can ever pay back the amount of support she has given me.

“My grandparents are very important too, my grandfather is a very wise man and a great man to talk to.

“When I am home in the summer I will go to his allotment and help him dig, then we will take the fresh produce home to my grandmother and she will make the most wonderful food.

“The allotment has been the place for some great chats and it was there where we talked about me moving to a club where I could win major trophies and I asked him what he thought about Manchester United.”

PaddyPower: Money back special – If Tottenham lead at half time and fail to win, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match.

  1. We are also pleased Berbertov has left. Bent score more goals than him last year. Also, Defoe has already scored more goals this season than he did in the whole of last year.
Next year Berbertov will not be playing for Man U he will probably be given away in the January transfer window. No one will buy him his wages are to high.

  2. To be honest, i could understand the logic behind his desire to move to Man Utd as they really can offer him a much higher chances of winning trophies. It is the manner which he sulk for his “dream move” which is utterly unprofessional and causes great damage to the 1st half of last season.

Because of this, i would not offer him my best wishes and hope he continue to do badly at Man U……….what goes around, comes around

  3. When Berbatov came to Spurs he was quite happy to say he chose Spurs over Man Utd. This was obviously tactical so he could get the bigger pay he would have got after a couple of seasons at Spurs to get a pay rise at man utd.

  4. His move was understandable, but as a fan I didn’t appreciate it – the curse of the modern game, using clubs as stepping stones, no loyalty, just personal career gains, which as a Spurs fan is very selfish, but not unusual ! He only engineered a move to us so SAF could come in and pick him up later, we did get good money ! Just didn’t spend it wisely, typical of us … till Harry that is ;-)

  5. BERBA-CUNT We are better without your sulking around the place. Pav is here now and has a smile even when he is on the bench, better team morale now the greedy man is gone. Agreed cant fault him for wanting to play for man u, just he could of handled the situation a lot better and his attitude stinks!
