Berbatov says Spurs players will go “f***ing crazy” at Poch if he did this

Tottenham will have an exciting end to the season as they have a real battle in their hands to finish in the top 4, as well as have the Champions League quarterfinal tie against Manchester City coming up.

Pep Guardiola’s men go into the game as huge favorites, with very few experts giving Tottenham any chance of progressing.

However, Tottenham will be playing the first leg of the tie at their brand new 62,062-capacity stadium, which could work to the team’s advantage.

The atmosphere at the test event conducted last evening was fantastic, and it is expected to be even better in next week’s test event which will see 45,000 people in attendance as Tottenham legends take on Inter Milan legends.

One of the players who will take to the field for Spurs legends next weekend, Dimitar Berbatov, has said that Tottenham should not prioritise a top 4 finish over the Champions League.

The former Tottenham striker said the Spurs players would be furious with Pochettino if he didn’t name a full-strength side against Manchester City.

Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov said, “Spurs have stumbled badly lately, taking one point from four Premier League games, and that’s a concern.

“They have put so much pressure on themselves thanks to that bad run. The last defeat – losing when leading at Southampton was bad – you just don’t let that happen if you want to be up among the best in the Premier League.

“I expect them to cling on in the top four fight but it’s going to be very tough.

“Ultimately, the club will probably place more importance on maintaining their top four placing in the top-flight as it’s essential they are in that competition next season given how expensive the new ground has been.

“But they aren’t going to play a weaker team in the Champions League. Imagine Mauricio Pochettino saying to one of his top players ‘I am going to rest you against City’.

“That player will go f***ing crazy. You want to hear that anthem and play that game.”
