Berbatov sends warning to Kane about following his move to Man United

In an interview with Betfred, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov has warned Harry Kane not to move to Manchester United and risk ruining his legacy at Spurs.

Kane has been with Spurs his entire career, bar a few loan spells with the likes of Millwall and Leicester City, and has firmly established himself as a club legend in North London.

He has 267 goals in 417 appearances for Tottenham (Transfermarkt), and is now the club’s all-time leading goalscorer (GOAL).

However, Kane has just under 18 months left on his current contract, and rumours persist that the striker may look to move on in the summer in search of silverware.

The England captain has repeatedly been linked with a move to Manchester United (Sky Sports), leaving many to debate whether he will jump ship and chase a trophy with the Red Devils, or stay at Tottenham and protect his legacy.

Berbatov left Spurs for Manchester United back in 2008, but insists Kane should not do the same.

He said: “First of all, is it going to be another saga of Harry Kane being linked with a move somewhere and nothing happens? This is something that’s happened in the last couple of transfer windows.

“Based on that, I don’t believe that a move will happen. I think Harry Kane’s legacy at Tottenham is so big, especially with him becoming the greatest goalscorer in the club’s history, that a move to another team in the Premier League could tarnish that legacy he’s built and would make the fans angry as well.

“A move a few years ago would have been a bit more acceptable in terms of his legacy at Spurs but now I don’t believe a move is going to materialise. Harry becoming Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer is a great achievement and he fully deserves it.”

While many thought that Kane would break the Spurs record and see that as ticking something off his bucket list before moving on, I think the emotional reaction from the player and the fans and the connection they share will be too much for Kane to leave behind now.
