Bergwijn’s former teammate reveals what Spurs fans should expect from forward

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Davy Propper has backed Tottenham’s newest recruit Steven Bergwijn to be a big success in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old went straight into the team against Manchester City just days after completing a £27 million move from PSV Eindhoven (Daily Mail).

He announced himself to English football with a bang as he scored a brilliant goal against the reigning champions to send Spurs on their way to a 2-0 victory on Sunday.

Needless to say, some Spurs fans are really excited to see what the forward can go on to achieve in North London after his fabulous debut.

Propper, who played with Bergwijn at PSV before moving to the south coast, detailed the attributes that the winger will bring to Tottenham.

Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT (6 February, 11am), the Brighton midfielder said: “He (Bergwijn) could be (a star).

“He has a lot of qualities. I played with him at PSV but he’s so fast, his dribbles are unbelievable. I’m really happy for him.”

Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk (Daily Star) and Crystal Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt (Football Daily), who have both played alongside Bergwijn for the Dutch national side, have also backed the youngster to be a success in the Premier League.

It is certainly great to hear so many stars who have played with Bergwijn speak so highly of him. One of the most impressive aspects of his performance against Manchester City was his strength and tenacity. The forward certainly didn’t shirk challenges and it looks like he will be a good fit for the Premier League.
