Bernd Leno claims Arsenal proved they ‘can play better’ than Spurs

The spoils were shared in the end in the North London Derby and neither side can have too many complaints about the result based on how the game went.

Spurs raced into a two-goal lead and were comfortably the better team in the first half but Arsenal got a goal back late in the half courtesy of Alexandre Lacazette.

That goal completely shifted the momentum as the hosts came out a much more confident side in the second half, pushing Spurs back and eventually managing to grab the equalizer.

Both teams had the chances to win the game with Harry Kane striking the woodwork for Spurs and Moussa Sissoko blazing over from a good chance right at the end.

However, Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has suggested that the Gunners proved in the game that they can play better than their North London rivals.

According to The Independent, the Arsenal stopper said, “Today we showed that we can play better than them.

“To be honest in the first half you saw the quality of Tottenham so again it will a very hard fight until the end of the season and then we will see who will be better.

“Some minutes after the game it was a little bit disappointing because we had the chance.

“But after one hour you have to say it is okay because we were 2-0 down and came back to 2-2 and also that Tottenham had a lot of chances and could have scored the third goal so at the end it was a deserved draw.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham were coming into this game in poor form and with a lot of negativity surrounding the club. So Spurs fans can have few complaints about the performance and result. Once the new players settle in and the injured players are back, I expect Spurs to become a lot more consistent and finish comfortably ahead of Arsenal.
