Some Tottenham fans on social media were left extremely impressed with Emerson Royal’s performance against Burnley yesterday.
Emerson has established himself as Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-choice right-back since arriving from Barcelona in the summer.
However, the 22-year-old has had a tricky start to life in North London, with his defensive work and his crossing leaving a lot to be desired in some matches.
That was certainly not the case at Turf Moor yesterday as the right-back coped admirably with Dwight McNeil down the Burnley left.
He also provided a constant outlet on the right-hand side and eventually set up Tottenham’s winner with a pin-point cross which was headed home by Lucas Moura.
Some Spurs fans on social media singled out the Brazilian for praise for his impressive display against Sean Dyche’s men, with many being hopeful that the former Real Betis man could develop into a top-class right-back in time.
His best performance so far and he was solid defensively and much better going forward

Romero and Emerson are looking like class signings.. thought they were both good last night.
Skippy going on loan was a master stroke, easily one of my favourites at the minute.— Tams 🌸 (@Tams_THFC) October 28, 2021
Superb assist from Emerson Royal 👏 pic.twitter.com/uyZz6jwuUc

There is definitely a player in Royal. Think it could be 6 mths + before we really see him showing his best on a consistent basis, but buying a developing talent is probably our most realistic route

The crossing from Emerson at RBK yesterday was brilliant. He is the closest we have come to replacing Walker with like-for like. Flog off Doherty to Newcastle or something

Really strong showing from the whole defence but Cuti Romero and Emerson Royal especially impressed this evening, neither putting a foot wrong. Two huge signings for the club who could go on to hopefully have very successful careers in N17.

Spurs Web Opinion
I have been surprised how little game time Nuno has given Tanganga since Emerson arrived at the club. That suggests that the Spurs boss has liked what he has seen from the Brazilian in training. At just 22 years of age, Emerson is only going to get better with more experience under his belt.
