‘Better not say too much’ – Hojbjerg slams ‘unacceptable’ Spurs defeat to Man Utd

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted that Tottenham’s performance in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United was ‘unacceptable’.

Tottenham were picked apart by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who was under pressure to deliver a result after suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat at home to rivals Liverpool last weekend.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford all bought the Norwegian coach some time, while the heat has been cranked up for Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo, whose side failed to register a single shot on target.

The former Wolves manager was met with boos early in the second half after substituting Lucas Moura for Steven Bergwijn and was later the subject of “we want Nuno out” chants shortly after Rashford slotted in United’s third.

Hojbjerg, who has been a permanent fixture in the Spurs line-up in the Premier League so far this season, did not shy away from labelling how poor the performance was, but warned that he had ‘better not say too much’.

“To show up like this, it’s unacceptable,” he told BBC Sport following the defeat.

“At home there should be fireworks and determination. It wasn’t there. I had better not say too much.”

That last bit of not saying too much is quite interesting, and it suggests that there is clear unrest in and around the Spurs dressing room.

It seems quite obvious that Nuno will be given more time by the club, considering they are not that ruthless or proactive in their decision making.
