Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that there is plenty of excitement surrounding Alfie Dorrington at Hotspur Way, with some even of the opinion that he is better in possession than Ashley Phillips.
Dorrington has been one of Tottenham’s standout players in Premier League 2 this season and has also impressed in his five appearances for England’s Under-19s.
Unlike the likes of Phillips, Alfie Devine, and Matthew Craig, Spurs decided against loaning out Dorrington last month.
That could have been due to the hamstring injury that the 18-year-old picked up towards the end of January, which is expected to potentially keep him out of action until the end of March (Alasdair Gold).

Alfie Dorrington is impressing at Hotspur Way
While Dorrington’s performances this season might have gone a bit under the radar, given how well the likes of Jamie Donley and Will Lanksherar have performed for the Under-21s, Eccleshare explained that the centre-back remains very highly thought off at Tottenham.
The journalist said on The View from The Lane Podcast: “The other one we haven’t mentioned is Alfie Dorrington, he hasn’t had the same experience Phillips has, but I gather he’s very highly rated in the building and maybe better on the ball than Phillips is one theory I’ve heard.
“He’s really highly thought of, he’s injured at the moment which is a shame for him, but yeah he’s supposedly a class player, really good on the ball.”

I would not be surprised if Postecoglou decides to loan out Dorrington and Donley to Championship sides in the summer, with Devine and Phillips potentially taking the pair’s place in the first-team squad for next season on their return from Plymouth.
