Some Spurs fans on social media were not pleased to read reports that the club are interested in signing Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Hugo Lloris is into the final year of his contract with Tottenham and at 34 years of age, it remains to be seen whether the club will offer him a new deal.
The Spurs captain revealed this week that he will have conversations with the club about his future in the coming weeks but there is an increasing amount of speculation linking the club with goalkeepers.
90 min claimed last week that Tottenham were looking at Ajax goalkeeper Andrea Onana as a potential option next summer.
The Telegraph have now reported that Antonio Conte is eyeing up Pickford as a candidate to succeed Lloris.
The Italian allegedly wants a homegrown goalkeeper either to take over as number one or to compete with the French international.
This news has not gone down well with Tottenham fans on social media, many of whom insisting that the likes of Nick Pope or Sam Johnstone would be better options if the club wanted a homegrown goalkeeper.
I would rather bring Vorm back

Just make sure it’s the Jordan Pickford that plays for England and not for Everton https://t.co/yAMnKUEiLc

No! Decent enough keeper but no better than Golini. Prone to stupidity too. Rather get Sam Johnstone on a free then him. https://t.co/ScFWOL9ddB

If we want a HG keeper, Johnstone or Henderson would be better options than Pickford imo https://t.co/FDNcZUgvNc

Spurs Web Opinion
Nick Pope is extremely poor with the ball at his feet and is arguably not better than Hugo when it comes to shot-stopping. The idea of going for Pickford evidently seems to be because of England number one’s distribution.
I do think Pickford gets a bad rap because people made up their minds about him a few years ago when he made a few mistakes. In reality, the 27-year-old has improved his temperament over recent years.
He is also quite exceptional in saving one vs one situations as he has shown in an England shirt. That might come in handy if Conte plans on playing a high defensive line.
