‘Better than the Emirates’ – PL legend heaps praise on Tottenham stadium

Former Manchester United and England centre-back Rio Ferdinand has been singing the praises of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, even claiming that it is better than Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

The North London grounds are two of the newest in the Premier League with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opening in 2019 while the Emirates opened its doors in 2006.

This will be Tottenham’s first full season with fans in the new stadium as it opened in March 2019, way over halfway through the season after a stint at Wembley.

COVID-19 restrictions then prevented fans from entering the stadium for the last few matches of the 2019/20 season and the vast majority of the 2020/21 campaign.

While speaking on his YouTube podcast, Ferdinand described the Tottenham Hotspur stadium as ‘the Four Seasons of football grounds’.

He said: “When you go to the stadium, the only way I can explain it is that it’s like the Four Seasons of football grounds. It’s unreal man.

“It’s got the feeling of keeping the history and the heritage of Tottenham in the new build, which is difficult to do. It’s better than the Emirates, all day.”

The Spurs Web Opinion:

Through all the doom and gloom of the past 12 months at Tottenham, there is still one thing to be proud of, the stadium. Not only one of the best in England but one of the best in the world. Every fan, player or pundit that visits the ground is always full of praise for it and that is something to take pride in.
