Only a wonder bid could land Spurs a striker

Harry Redknapp

Sunderland have warned Tottenham Hotspur that they must break the bank if they want to sign Asamoah Gyan.

It’s no secret that Harry Redknapp wants to bolster his attacking options after his strikers failed to make a mark last season.  With Robbie Keane and one other expected to depart the Lane this summer.

Gyan scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for the Black Cats following a £13 million move from Rennes last season and has previously admitted to be ‘flattered’ at the Spurs rumours.

“I haven’t had a telephone conversation with any agent, no offer from any club,” Bruce told BBC Newcastle.

“He’s going nowhere unless we get a wonder bid that comes out of nowhere.

“As far as I’m concerned I’m looking forward to seeing Gyan being ready for the Premier League better than what he was last year. I think he’ll be better, he knows what to expect and I’m expecting big things from him.”
