Big-name German defender posts photo of him wearing Tottenham shirt on Instagram

Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels uploaded an Instagram story (10/06/22) of himself working out in a Tottenham jersey this week.

Hummels, who has made 76 appearances for Germany (TransferMarkt), uploaded the video to the social media platform whilst he was out jogging.

The defender still has a year left on his contract at Dortmund and was quick to quell any rumours of a move away from Signal Iduna Park with the caption: “And before Transfermarkt and co come up with wild ideas I just like to wear swapped jerseys for sports!!”

Perhaps what is most surprising is the name on the back of the 2015/16 Spurs home kit that the 33-year-old was adorning.

Many would suspect a Heung-Min Son or Harry Kane jersey, however, Hummels had seemingly swapped jerseys with Spurs centre-back Eric Dier.

Dier has enjoyed an impressive season at centre-back at the heart of Antonio Conte’s defence and it is great to see that he is not only gaining recognition from the Italian.

Spurs Web Opinion

Although now coming to the end of a magnificent career, it would have been amazing to see Hummels playing in a Spurs shirt a few seasons ago.

If Dier can channel prime Hummels’ ability for next season then Spurs may not have to look very far to upgrade their defence in this summer’s transfer market!
