‘Big priority’ – Journalist names player Spurs are admirers of ahead of the summer

Tottenham Hotspur could look to prioritise a move for a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window with Brentford’s David Raya on the club’s radar, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

Raya has spent the last 11 years in England after joining Blackburn Rovers’ academy in 2012 and is now entering the final year of his contract with Brentford.

The 27-year-old has previously revealed he has already rejected a fresh deal from the Bees and despite being happy at the club, is in no rush to put pen to paper (Evening Standard).

Manchester United are also said to be fans of the Spaniard, however, the Red Devils are reported to be close to agreeing a new deal with current number one David de Gea (ESPN).

Crook told GiveMeSport: “[Fraser] Forster seemed a strange signing as an alternative — wasn’t even first choice at Southampton — so I think a keeper is a big priority. David Raya, they like, same as Manchester United in that respect.”

Lloris’ time at Tottenham must come to an end this summer with the club now needing a keeper who is able to play out from the back and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.

The World Cup winner has been a good servant down the years, but it is now time to move on in what has to be a huge overhaul of the squad over the next two or three transfer windows.
