Tottenham captain Cristian Romero may no longer end up at Inter Milan this summer following big developments over his future.
It now appears certain that the Argentine will exit N17 this summer following Roberto De Zerbi’s latest comments about his future.
The Tottenham boss has said that he will not try to convince Romero to stay at Spurs, hinting that the centre-back had already conveyed to him last season that he wants to depart the club.
Over the last few days, several sources have indicated that Tottenham and Inter are edging close to an agreement on the 28-year-old, but there has now been a new development in the race for the defender’s future.

The Daily Mail have now confirmed what other sources have reported over recent days by stating that the Nerazzurri are continuing to work on a deal for Romero despite reaching an agreement to sign John Stones.
However, the report says that a deal to take the Tottenham Hotspur man to the San Siro will prove ‘complicated’ owing to the financial package required.
Additionally, Inter now face another big threat as Atletico Madrid have reignited their interest in Romero’s signature.
The outlet points out that the La Liga side explored the figures it would take to sign the centre-back last summer, and have now joined the race again, just as the Argentine appeared to be edging closer to a move to Italy.

Some Italian sources had reported that the Lilywhites were ready to sell Romero to Inter for just €40m (£34m), which is clearly a gross undervaluation of his value, especially on the back of his performances at the World Cup.
It did seem like Tottenham were willing to take a financial hit in order to find Romero a new home and to avoid selling him to a Premier League rival.
Atletico’s entry into the race is thus great news for Spurs, who will be hoping that a bidding war ensues for the defender and pushes up the price.
