Some Spurs fans on social media have had a field day after Michael Carrick referred to Chelsea as ‘Tottenham’ by mistake while addressing the media ahead of Manchester United’s match at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham fans would have been eagerly waiting for the side’s clash against Burnley on Sunday afternoon, with Antonio Conte’s men needing a response following their embarrassing Europa Conference League loss last week.
However, much to the disappointment of Spurs fans, the clash at Turf Moor was called off less than one hour before kick-off due to heavy snowfall.
One game that did go ahead on Sunday was Chelsea vs Manchester United, which was billed as the clash of the weekend.
A United side, which was marshalled by Carrick following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking, manage to come away with a point from Stamford Bridge.
However, it was what happened before that game that caught the attention of some Spurs fans, with Carrick mistakenly referring to United’s opponents that evening as ‘Tottenham’ before correcting himself.
Here’s how some fans reacted to the former Spurs midfielder’s slip up:
Carrick just said tottenham instead of Chelsea were massive

Spurs Web Opinion
Chelsea fans certainly would not have taken kindly to being referred to as ‘Tottenham’, although they have to admit that they probably sing more about Spurs at Stamford Bridge than they do about their own team.
