Blackburn: No bids for Samba

Steve Kean insists Blackburn have still not received any offers for key defender Christopher Samba.

The 27-year-old defender has been linked with moves to both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, but no official offer has been made.

Harry Redknapp is keen to bolster his central defensive options after releasing Jonathan Woodgate at the end of the season.

Samba signed a long-term deal in February, but is thought to be interested in a move to a bigger club.

Asked if there had been any offers for the player, Kean told Sky Sports News: “No.

“We’re trying to keep Chris and the fact that he’s a couple of months into a new five-year contract shows we were showing commitment to Chris.

“The owners backed the proposal that I put in front of them to say ‘let’s get Chris a new contract and show what we feel about Chris’, and there have been no bids at all for Chris at this stage.”
