Boost for Spurs as top target is not named in club’s pre-season tour squad

Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing the Argentine playmaker, Giovani Lo Celso, for some time now, after bidding £53m for him at the start of the transfer window (BBC).

Real Betis turned Tottenham’s offer down as they deemed it too far from Lo Celso’s £88m buyout clause, a figure that would eclipse Spurs’ transfer record fee.

However, the latest hint from Betis implies that they expect to lose their star creator this summer, after they failed to include him in their pre-season tour of Mexico.

In fact, The Mirror have reported that they expect Tottenham to sign Lo Celso as early as this week, along with Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon.

The Argentine is said to be pushing hard to force through a move to link up with his fellow countryman Pochettino and international teammates Erik Lamela, Juan Foyth, and Paulo Gazzaniga.

Betis are reportedly prepared to lower their asking price, and if a fee can be agreed, Lo Celso will fly for a medical this week.
