Boro keen on Naughton deal

Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has stated his hope to bring Kyle Naughton back on a permanent deal next season.

Naughton has been on loan at the Riverside since January and has impressed in his 14 appearances.

He has featured in both full-back positions for Boro and Strachan has voiced his hope that Naughton will be back again next season.

“I like Kyle a lot. There’s more to his game than meets the eye and I’d love to work with him for a wee while longer.

“I’ve asked him if he would be keen to stay and he’s open minded. I have to speak to Harry first, but we’d definitely like him to stay here because I think there’s a lot more to come from him.

“He can play in different positions and I think he’s someone who could have a really bright future.”

Naughton only joined Spurs from Sheffield United last summer, but failed to make much impression on the first team, before being farmed out on loan.

Spurs would be keen to recoup the transfer fee paid for him, which may be out of Middlesbrough’s price range.
