Boss admits three of Spurs’ rumoured Ajax targets could be available this summer

Ajax boss, Erik Ten Hag, has potentially handed Tottenham a transfer boost by confirming that Donny van de Beek, Nicolas Tagliafico, and Andre Onana are available all for sale this summer.

The trio have been important parts of Ajax’s recent success with reports previously indicating that all three players are on Tottenham’s radar (Mirror/The Sun/Football.London).

Out of the trio, Onana has been the one that has been most heavily linked with a move to North London over the past couple of months, with reports indicating that Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for Hugo Lloris’ long-term successor (Daily Mail).

Sky Sports reveal that Van De Beek is a top target for Manchester United this summer, while Chelsea are interested in snapping up Tagliafico to replace Marcos Alonso.

Ajax chief executive officer, Edwin van der Sar, has previously warned clubs that they cannot expect to sign the Eredivisie champions’ players on the cheap (Reuters).

Ten Hag has now admitted that the aforementioned trio are expected to leave the Johan Cruijff Arena this summer but insisted that any potential deals depend on the nature of the post-COVID-19 market.

He told Dutch newspaper Het Parool: “The transfer market will start in August. The top leagues are now being played out, so the money flows are maintained.

“The market value of players will be slightly depressed, but not much.

“Based on their performance and ambition, a number of our players also want to make the move abroad.

“Agreements have been made with Andre Onana, Donny van de Beek and Nicolas Tagliafico, but it remains to be seen whether the market is indeed breaking loose.

“For Onana and Van de Beek, another year of Ajax could certainly be an option, for Tagliafico it is slightly different because of his age.”

Spurs Web Opinion

With the Eredivisie season being voided, I would expect the likes of Ajax to cash in on several of their stars to give themselves a reprieve from the financial impact of COVID-19. Hakim Ziyech has already been sold to Chelsea and I believe others will also follow Moroccan out of the door this summer. However, all three players mentioned above are likely to be out of our price range.
