Jermain Defoe - Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Tottenham Hotspur face a tough trip to West Bromwich Albion tomorrow in what is a potential banana skin to our recent superb run of form.

If YOU were Harry Redknapp, what would your Spurs starting XI be? Would you stick with the eleven who beat Aston Villa – or would you freshen it up a bit?

Here’s what we have come up with. Leave your own teams and comments below.

Friedel

Walker Kaboul King Assou Ekotto

Lennon Parker Modric Bale

Adebayor Defoe

  1. the run were on its really hard to drop a losing team. its unfortunate for defoe and sandro but you never want to mess with a winning formula

  2. Can't believe you guys are so willing to drop Lennon! The boy is coming back to form and is one of our more consistent players! He's far more likely to contribute significantly than Defoe who is just as likely to be anonymous and NOT even score. ALSO, more often than not, he provides the assits for Defoe. (Don't read this as knocking Defoe, more backing Lennon)

  3. For crying out loud – explain why you want to change the winning team! This includes the author. Are you playing Defoe merely because you feel sorry for him sitting on the bench? Or do you really think that he can cause more problems to WBA than VDV?

  4. As for me. West Brom usually play 4-5-1 at home, with Long up top. Long is doubtful, so it looks likely to remain as 4-5-1. Ergo us playing a straight 4-4-2 would mean us being outnumbered in midfield. 4-4-1-1 could allow VDV to drop into midfield areas – as he normally does, and bolster the midfield effort. However, we have not come to defend, so Vdv will attack too. For me, I see no reason to change the line-up just yet. But I accept that it may happen at some point.

  5. Nope, as you were on monday when we dominated villa thank you very much. Change nothing not even the bench. We have a europa league game in the week so we can change it up then and I feel very proud to be able to say it but we do have enough depth to be able to cope with that distraction. The young players we have plus some of the others who aren’t featuring because we’re doing well can stake their claim. You gotta love being a spurs fan just now, talented players in every area promising players pushing through the ranks, new stadium in the

pipeline, great manager who I personally think should stay clear of the poisoned chalice that is the england managers job but thats just me being selfish, we have a chairman who’s prepared to back his manager. What more could we want? Well. As I was saying to a fellow yid on tuesday, we could ship out Defoe, Pav, Bassong, Jenas, Gio Dos, and Gomes and keep Adebayor do what needs to be done to make that deal, bring in Lukas Podolski, Huntelaar, Cahill and Samba and a new keeper quite who I don’t know but we do need one as Brad has one maybe two more seasons left in him. The money from the sales of the players mentioned would in my opinion cover those potential buys but thats just my opinion. Thoughts anyone. Oh yeah please for heavens sake keep Th udd at our club ok not the most mobile of players but his range of passing is a joy to have and that thunder bolt shot. Those players mentioned could only enhance what we already have. Coys. Lillywhitetilidie

    Defoe Adebayor

Easily good enough to get a win as long as we hold posession as we have been. If resting a couple of players means we fail to beat a bottom half team then we have no chance of top 4. At some point we will get injuries/suspenions to key players and fringe players must have a few games under their blts when they come in. Challenging for the title isnt about playing the same 11 every week but having a good enough squad. VDV and Parker will benefit from a rest and presumably King cannot keep going without a game off.

  7. Given that BOTH Defoe and VDV are doubts, we probably want to re-think all of the above.

As it's an away game and with Westbrom playing 4-5-1 as noted above, I would feel confident matching that formation with solid holding duo of Parker and Sandro, with Modric moving further up field into VDV's free role. He's got guile, this could be good! Like the Fulham game, you can't win every game playing people off the park with our sexy football.

    Walker Kaboul King Čorluka
    Lennon Parker Sandro Bale
    Defoe On-loan Striker

I would let these guys take the steam out of WBA and then unleash Modrić and VDV. Probably take off Parker (for a rest) and Adebayor (if he wastes any golden ops).
BAE is a liability away from home, and having watched Charlie against Turkey at left back, you cannot leave him out.
When do you change a winning team? After they lose, or before they lose?
