YOU’RE THE BOSS: What’s your Spurs team vs Real Madrid?

Peter Crouch

Tottenham Hotspur face Real Madrid tonight in the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals.

If you were Harry Redknapp, what would your Spurs starting XI be?

Here’s what we have come up with:-

Corluka Dawson Gallas Assou-Ekotto

Lennon Modric Sandro Bale

Van der Vaart

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Agree with the line-up. VDV and Crouch are nailed on to start up front as they did in the San Siro.

Really cant see any changes to that side, unless Gallas fails the late fitness test and Bassong comes in. Be great to see Huddlestone involved at some stage although perhaps better to give him some playing time against Stoke on Saturday.

  2. As long as they leave that useless tosser Jenas in the departure lounge pretty much the above looks like our best bet to start …COYS lets do em

  3. There is no real alternative…which kinda scares me. But that team is damn near full strength (name-wise) – with a few options either injured or on way back. The question whether is Gallas, Lennon, Bale and Vdv are at full strength themselves. I fully expect Hudd to come on. This guy is due to be a long-term Spurs man, and it would be great if we could immerse him in this atmosphere, and quality opposition.

    • thudd can change the game if he comes on we have been missing him in the premier league but sandro has beeen awesome since his first game against milan so i doubt thudd will start

  4. That is the team in a nut shell crouchie is going to cause problems for carvalho and pepe but our key man will be bale if he can recapture what he did to maicon against inter and do the same to ramos i think we can seriously win tonight spurs have so much believe at the moment the players are gunning for madrid COYS also i think van der vaart has a big part to play

    • I am worried about Ramos himself. This guy has pace & skill AND is a defender – and super fit. It may well be a case of can Bae & Bale handle him. There liely will be NO overlapping or interplay between Bae & Bale apart from a long ball for Bale to run onto. I think Bale's job is to be a threat, but I don't expect him to make a noticeable impact (unless Mourinho foolishly ignores/dismisses Bale's threat) The main impact Bale needs to make is to occupy Ramos & stopping him from getting forward. My brother is at the game tonight….the lucky b…..

  5. I would play a 3-2-3-1-1 formation, as we are limited at the back.

    Corluka Dawson Assou-Ekotto

    Huddlestone Sandro

    Lennon Bale

    Van der Vaart

    • Dude, you haven't watched Real Madrid lately haven't you? Sergio Ramos would plant himself on the right wing between BAE and Sandro, pulling both of them across and creating massive holes in our defence. Plus Ronaldo would then play left wing and do the same on the other side. By "limited" you cannot mean in number, because we have 4 fully fit defenders, plus a virtually fit Gallas, plus Huddlestone who has history there. So you must mean that we are "limited" in the quality of defence that we can put out. Well in that case, you must play MORE defenders not less. Or you play the normal amount of defenders and put players in front to protect. 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1 all the way
