YOU’RE THE BOSS: Who should start for Spurs vs Arsenal

0

Tottenham Hotspur face Arsenal in the Carling Cup and the first North London derby of the season.

Harry Redknapp has already hinted that he is set to make some changes to the side which beat Wolves. What we want to know is, what would YOUR starting Spurs XI be?

Leave your team below.

Here’s what we have come up with.

Pletikosa

Hutton Bassong Huddlestone Assou Ekotto

Lennon Sandro Jenas Bale

Pavlyuchenko Keane

*Based on the fact that King, Corluka and Dawson are injured – with Gallas rested as Harry as suggested.

  1. When will we give the youngsters a go , these are the type of games you need to bring them into.

Pletikosa, Hutton, Bassong, Caulker, Naughton, Kranjcar, Sandro, Palacios, Livermore, Dos Santos, Pav

  2. Bale will be rested. Harry said so himself. My team:

    Pletikosa

    Hutton Bassong Caulker Ekotto

    Lennon Palacios Sandro Kranjcar

    Giovani

    Super-Pav

  3. Bale needs to be rested and i think Arry has already said that he would.

    Pletikosa

    Hutton Bassong Caulker Assou Ekotto

    Gio Sandro Jenas Kranjcar

    Pavlyuchenko Keane

  4. Rest the big boys and lets give everyone else 90 minutes to stake their claim for a first team place:

    Pletikosa

    hutton bassong corluka naughton

    kranjcar palacios sandro dos santos

    keane

    pav

  5. Harry has stated that he wants to give runouts to players that havent been playing so I’m going to go with:

Pletikosa; BAE, Bassong, Caulker/Huddlestone, Hutton/Naughton; Kranjcar, Sandro, Livermore/Jenas, dos Santos; Pav, Keane.

  6. Pletikosa

    BAE Bassong Caulker Naughton

    Sandro

    Bentley Kranjcar/VDV Dos Santos

    Kane Pav

Keen to see if Harry Kane has what it takes at this level yet..

  7. Some of the big players need a rest with the games coming thick and fast. Bale is definitely one of those.

    Here’s guessing

    Pletikosa

    Hutton Caulker Bassong BAE

    Sandro Palacios

    Jenas GDS Kranjcar

    Pav

The pointy, shouty bloke who contributed absolutely nothing again on Saturday can do that from the stands

  8. Surely Huddlestone, Modric, Bale, Crouch, Ekotto & VDV all have to be rested.

    Pletikosa

    Hutton-Bassong-Caulker-Naughton

    Bentley-Sandros-Palacios-Kranjcar

    Gio-Pav

  9. I’d like your selection – with one small change. I’d start Modric on the left and drop Bale back to left back.

    Pletikosa

    Hutton Bassong Huddlestone Bale

    Lennon Sandro Jenas Modric

    Pavlyuchenko Keane

  10. ………………………….PLETIKOSA………………………………
    HUTTON….BASSONG….CAULKER…NAUGHTON
    ……………………………………………………………………………..
    …………………JENAS………SANDRO………………………..
    ……………………………………………………………………………..
    BENTLEY……………GIOVANI………………KRANJCAR
    ……………………………………………………………………………..
    …………………….PAVLYUCHENKO………………………….

with HUDDLESTONE, BALE AND MODRIC to the rescue should we need it :-)

  11. No Offence, but I seriosly don't think Keane should EVER wear the Spursjersey again, not even for the Carling Cup. Sorry. I am willing (for the last time) to give Jenas one absolutly last chance thou…

    • Greavsy,Having seen Keane in action several times this season,I completely aggree with you.He passes to the opponents, and is so goal shy he nrver fires a shot on target

  12. Keane is like the dinner plate I borrowed from the old dear years ago…cherished and washed up.Gio needs in, mostly cos Lennon is not back to his menacing best yet. Bale has carried the team consistently for an eternity and hate to say it but am starting to see the mere mortal within Ledley. Greavsy 18 is right, the non event that is Jenas
will without doubt return to his true inimitable and fierclely infurriating finest form sooner rather than later…but for now, if as a club we arepaying him then?!

  13. i would def rest-van der vaart,bale,modric,but the team i would play-pletikosa,hutton,bassong,gallas,ekotto,

    lennon,jenas,sandro,gio or krancjar,pavlyuchenko,keane

  14. Pletikosa

    hutton bassong caulker naughton

    sandro

    gio hudd jenas

    Pav Kane(not Keane)

got rest bale i think. Mod and livermore to come on second half for jenas and Kane.

  15. play VDV give him a taste of us smashing the arse anals.

u r all forgetting this is arsenal we r talking about. Yes we should rest Bale and others, but should still field strong players.

  16. On another point boys, Daniel Agger has come out and bagged Roy Hodgson's long ball tactics and stated that he will not change because that isn't the player he is. He likes to have the ball at his feet.

The question is do us Spurs fans see him as a long term alternative to Woody and King? I know he has had his injury problems too but a left footed, 6'3" centre back that likes to run with the ball and is only 25 surely would be a great addition and reflect the change in fortune's between Liverpool and us Spurs?

As an international he needs to play, and 'Arry can offer him that in a team that plays attractive football, is in the Champions League (I know we may not be by January) will be pushing for the top 4 again and building a squad to make a realistic challenge for the title over the next 3-5 years and we encourage our defenders to carry the ball from danger with it at their feet.

For me he would be a great fit and would be miles better than Cahill / Shawcross or any of the other CB's currently linked with moves.

I can't wait to hear everybodys thoughts
