Bournemouth determined to resist Tottenham move for defender this summer

Bournemouth are reluctant to sell one of their key defenders this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur among the clubs showing interest in the 22-year-old.

Bournemouth have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season. The Cherries currently sit in 11th place and should results go their way on the final day of the season, they could finish as high as ninth in the table.

Such overperformance rarely goes unnoticed, and as is often the case in football, key players and coaching staff are now being linked with moves away from the Vitality Stadium.

Real Madrid have already moved quickly to sign Dean Huijsen, while Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has been linked with managerial job at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham showing interest in Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi

The links between Bournemouth and Tottenham do not end with Andoni Iraola, as GIVEMESPORT now report that the North London club are eyeing a move for Illia Zabarnyi.

While Spurs have shown interest, it is understood that Bournemouth intend to resist any offers for the Ukraine international in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United also reported to be admirers of the 24-year-old.

Spurs face resistance as Bournemouth aim to keep Zabarnyi

The reason for Bournemouth’s firm stance on Zabarnyi is largely down to the departure of Dean Huijsen to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Huijsen’s exit has significantly reduced the likelihood of Bournemouth letting another key centre-back leave this summer, especially with the club unwilling to tear apart their defensive core.

There is also ongoing speculation around Milos Kerkez, who could be on the move this summer.

Should the Hungary international also depart, the Cherries would risk losing multiple integral defenders in one window. That is why they are expected to stand firm if Tottenham or any other club come calling for Zabarnyi.
