Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that one of the reasons why Dominic Solanke was an attractive target for Tottenham was the striker’s fantastic character.

Tottenham want players who fight for the badge
In the Ange Postecoglou era, Spurs are putting much more weight on the personality of their transfer targets rather than just taking their ability into account, with the Australian making it clear time and again that he is trying to build a harmonious dressing room.
The Tottenham head coach has also repeatedly spoken about how he only wants players who want to come to the club for the right reason, recently revealing that he got the feeling that Solanke was extremely keen to come in his conversations with the striker (Football.London).
Gold has now stated in his latest column that the 26-year-old ‘was desperate’ to join the Lilywhites this summer.
However, despite this, the striker did not agitate for a move and went about requesting the transfer in a classy way, which left ‘the perfect last impression’ at Bournemouth.
The journalist adds that no one at the Cherries has a bad word to say about Solanke, with the club’s chief executive Neill Blake thought to have lavished praise on the player.

Finally, Gold also relays the compliments that Andoni Iraola paid Solanke after his move to Tottenham became official.
The Cherries boss said about the striker: “His behaviour with us has been amazing. He is a top, top professional and a top player.
“He deserves the best, because he is the player you want, professionally and also personally. He has given us everything he has. We will be cheering for him.”

While there has been a lot of debate over what Solanke and Toney can bring on the pitch, the one thing to be noted is that the former Cherries star’s attitude and personality make him much better for squad morale than the Bees player, which might have factored into Ange’s decision.
