Our boys on International duty: How did they get on

Some of our players have been on international duty with their country, here is a round up of how they fared.

England have been the main beneficiaries from our club with four of our lads in Gareth Southgate’s squad, and all got game time with the Three Lions’ in two very dull affairs.

He has the Midas touch at the moment and he was at it again.
Harry Kane is in the form of his life and scored two important goals in both matches, to earn England victories and breeze through Group F. He was also captain in both games and you wouldn’t bet against him being given the honour on a permanent basis.

Eric Dier and Dele Alli both started a game a piece, with the latter missing out on Thursday’s match against Slovenia thanks to his one finger salute at Kyle Walker.

Kieran Trippier saw some game time too, with the 27-year-old former Burnley man playing on Sunday, A steady performance from him and he will certainly compete with ex club team mate Kyle Walker for the right back berth.

Lastly, but by no means least,on the England front , there was of course a full debut for Harry Winks, who’s Man of the Match display in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Lithuania earned rave reviews. Should he get some decent game time under his belt at Spurs he could well be Gareth Southgate’s wildcard for next summer’s World Cup.

On to Belgium. Defensive lynchpins Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen featured for the Red Devil’s over the week. It was also a special week for Jan Vertonghen as he broke Jan Ceulemans Belgian caps record in games against Bosnia Herzegovina and Cyprus,
making him the most capped player in all of Belgium’s footballing history. Our SuperJan
