Brad Friedel thinks Lloris could stay five years and Kane should retire at Spurs

Former Spurs goalkeeper Brad Friedel has shared some advice to Tottenham Hotspur players Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris, and thinks the pair should look to finish their careers with the North London club.

Friedel deputised for Lloris during his time at Spurs, and despite the French keeper now approaching a decade at the club (Transfermarkt), his American counterpart believes there is still more to come from the Tottenham captain.

Lloris has been a fantastic servant to the club over the last ten years, and had a fantastic season last term for Spurs, registering 16 clean sheets in the Premier League and playing every single league game (PremierLeague.com).

Speaking to Boyle Sports, Friedel said: “Hugo Lloris could stay another five years – no chance Spurs are looking to replace him.

“Hugo Lloris is a great professional and the club will be able to assess his fitness. Hugo could still have five or more years at the top, barring any bad injuries.

“I expect to see Lloris performing at another very high-level next season and I don’t expect the club to be looking for a replacement any time soon.”

Friedel also believes Harry Kane can cement his status as a club legend by sticking with Spurs for the rest of his career. After last summer’s transfer saga (Sky Sports), it now seems that Kane could be open to discussing a new contract (Football.London).

Kane enjoyed a phenomenal turn in fortunes after Antonio Conte arrived at the club, finishing the season with 17 goals and nine assists in the Premier League (Transfermarkt) as Spurs battled to a fourth-placed finish.

According to Friedel (Boyle Sports): “Harry Kane should retire at Tottenham and become one of their greatest legends.

“Retiring at Tottenham is a great option for Harry Kane. It’s an incredible club, if he did end his career there, he would go down as one of the club’s all-time legends.

“The board and Daniel Levy hold the power. If Levy feels he should sell Kane, then he will. If he wants to keep him, he’ll do everything to keep him happy in his contract. I don’t think there’s a bad choice for Harry.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Both Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane have given so much to Spurs over the years, and they are still absolutely integral to the club’s hopes for success.

One would imagine Lloris is happy to stay in North London for as long as he can keep playing. Kane too, appears to have put the past behind him, and looks fully committed to the Conte project.

As long as he can be sure the club is moving in the right direction and competing for silverware, there’s no reason why Kane would leave. Levy had better get commissioning the statue now!
