Report: Player out of contract this summer is ‘fighting to save his career’ at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brandon Austin faces a pivotal time in his career at the club, according to Football Insider.

Reports claim that the academy graduate, who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign is “fighting to save his career” at the club.

Austin has recently stepped up to become Guglielmo Vicario’s understudy as a result of Fraser Forster‘s foot fracture which is expected to sideline him for a number of months.

Brandon Austin is out of contract at the end of the season

Austin has been on the subs bench for seven Premier League fixtures this season but has not been called into action with Vicario having been an ever-present (transfermarkt).

The 25-year-old has previously had loan spells at MLS outfit Orlando City and Danish club Viborg FF, but has not made a senior appearance for the Tottenham Hotspur first team squad to date.

It is said that Forster’s injury represents an opportunity for Austin to now try to put his hand up to secure another contract in N17.

To say that Austin is fighting to save his career at the club could be slightly dramatic, considering he is currently ahead of Alfie Whiteman in the goalkeeping pecking order, who is also out of contract at the end of the season.

The lack of domestic cup fixtures and European football have limited the opportunities for some of the fringe players to get any minutes this season.
