Brazil legend Cafu reveals Tottenham star impressed him recently

Brazilian legend Cafu has named new Tottenham signing Cristian Romero among the players he has been impressed with recently.

Romero signed for Spurs last month on an initial loan deal from Atalanta, with the North London club having the option to make the deal permanent for a £42.5m fee.

The 23-year-old arrives at Tottenham on the back of an impressive season on loan at Atalanta and after playing a starring role for Argentina in their victorious Copa America campaign over the summer.

However, the centre-back is not currently available for selection for Nuno Espirito Santo as he is serving a period of quarantine in Croatia, along with Davinson Sanchez and Giovani Lo Celso, after travelling to South America during the international break.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Romero can settle quickly into life in the Premier League and they will be pleased to hear that the former Juventus man has certainly won Cafu’s approval thanks to his performances in Copa America.

When asked who impressed him during the tournament, the former Brazilian World Cup-winning captain told Mundo Deportivo: “There are several young players who deserve to be highlighted. For Brazil, I was impressed by Lucas Paquetá, for example.

“Also the Colombian Luis Díaz, MVP of the tournament, and Cristian Romero, from Argentina, who had a very good game in the final.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs fans might have to wait a bit longer to see Romero make his first Premier League start as I do not expect the 23-year-old to be involved against Chelsea, given that Nuno has confirmed that the three players will arrive back in the UK only the day before the London derby.
