Brazilian legend Rivaldo thinks joining Spurs is ‘a great move’ for Richarlison

Brazilian legend Rivaldo has said that joining Tottenham Hotspur is a great move for Richarlison and admitted that he is excited to see his compatriot play alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Tottenham officially confirmed their capture of Richarlison last week, with the Brazilian becoming the club’s fourth edition of the summer transfer window.

According to reports, Spurs have agreed to pay up to £60m including add-ons to Everton for the 25-year-old (Sky Sports).

The versatile forward will add even more firepower to Tottenham’s fearsome frontline, with Antonio Conte now having an embarrassment of riches in the forward areas.

Some pundits have opined that Richarlison is not likely to be a regular starter for Tottenham next season, particularly given how well Dejan Kulusevski did in the second half of last season (ESPN).

However, Rivaldo believes that the Brazil international will form a fearsome trio alongside Kane and Son, and admitted that he is excited to see what the former Everton man could do in a Spurs shirt.

The former Barcelona midfielder told Betfair.com (via Football.London): “Richarlison is officially at Spurs, and I believe this is a great transfer for him as it will allow him to play for a top club in the Premier League and also compete in the Champions League in 2022-23.

“Furthermore, he might form a fantastic trio with Son and Harry Kane in attack. So, I think it is a great move for him, and I’m anxious to start watching him play at a club with big ambitions for next season under Antonio Conte.”

The debate around whether Richarlison will start ahead of Kulusevski misses the point completely. With Tottenham back in the Champions League, and with five substitutions being allowed in the Premier League next season, having an additional attacking option of the 25-year-old’s quality will be a huge asset to Conte.
