Brazilian signs Spurs deal

Sandro - Tottenham Hotspur news

Midfielder Sandro has signed a new five-year contract with Tottenham.

The Brazil international had been linked with Roma and Barcelona this summer but has confirmed that he sees his future at White Hart Lane by signing a new contract that will run until the summer of 2016.

Sandro was used sparingly by Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp after his arrival but became a fans’ favourite last term thanks to his tough tackling and tireless work rate.

The 22-year-old played a major role in the club’s Champions League last-16 victory over AC Milan and scored a spectacular goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

A knee injury suffered in the Copa America for Brazil this summer has kept him out of action this season and he is not expected to return for at least another month.
