In an interview with the club’s official website, Brazilian star Lucas Moura has spoken of how the Tottenham Hotspur players want to take a winning mentality into our 2018 tour of America.

We are again taking part in the International Champions Cup(ICC) with some mouthwatering clashes against some of Europe’s biggest clubs

We kick-off against AS Roma at San Diego’s SDCCU Stadium on Wednesday, before meeting La Liga champions Barcelona at the famous Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, Los Angeles and finally another Italian test against AC Milan at the US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, home of the most recent Super Bowl in January, on Tuesday 31 July.

Lucas, can’t wait to get started. He said: “Roma is a big game to start the tour, I have Brazilian friends who have played at Roma. I also played against them (for PSG) last pre-season in America! It’s always tough against Italian teams.

“It’s always a pleasure to play against Barcelona. It’s a big team, big players and for me, it’s an important test.  We have to try to keep the ball and when we lose it, we try to get it back quickly. That’s why we work hard on our intensity. It’s important because against a team like Barcelona, we cannot lose the ball. If we let their players play, it won’t be good for us.  Milan are a great team, a famous team like Roma and this is another tough match”

Lucas went on to say: “These games are a big test for us in pre-season but of course, it’s always good to win and we will work hard to win.  It’s my first pre-season with the Club so I will give my best to show my talent and try to help the team win games. That’s my objective.”

It has taken a while for Lucas to settle and we are yet to see the best of him following just a handful of appearances last season following his January switch from PS, but with a full pre-season under his belt the coming season could well be something the Brazilian can make his own.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Hopefully we’ll get to see the real Lucas Moura now. Last season was his bedding in period as Poch likes his players to have one of his preseasons under their belts. I’m not usually one to slag Levy off as he’s residing over our best period as a club in decades by this window is becoming laughable. There were fears we were gonna lose the manager to Madrid but talk of being proactive in this window was given as a reason he decided to stay. We’ve done sod all while all around us move forward!!
