A huge offer from Saudi Arabia has emerged involving Radu Dragusin, with new details shedding light on just how close a major move came during the winter window.

Overall, the winter transfer window was a disappointing one for Tottenham Hotspur, who failed to strengthen their squad as many fans would have liked.

Spurs managed just two signings, Conor Gallagher and Souza, who added more depth to the midfield and full-back positions, respectively.

In terms of outgoings, Europa League goalscorer Brennan Johnson departed for £35 million to Crystal Palace, weakening their firepower on the wings without securing any reinforcement.

Tottenham Radu Dragusin Saudi transfer offer details

Radu Dragusin’s agent has now revealed that his client could well have been heading out in the winter, given the lucrative offer received from Saudi Arabia.

During the winter window, Dragusin was subject to much transfer speculation, with reports linking him to a move to Italy. However, no such move materialised, forcing the centre-back to remain in north London.

Romanian outlet iAM Sport reports that the Tottenham player’s representative, Florin Manea, has revealed a major offer from Saudi Arabia, alongside interest from Germany.

Speaking on the iAM Stucan podcast, Manea outlined the scale of the proposal and how it was turned down. He said, “You want me to tell you something? We refused €50m over five years for Radu. €10m per year.”

The agent then explained that the offer came from Saudi Arabia and far exceeded Dragusin’s current earnings at Tottenham, making clear the financial scale involved:

“Someone from Saudi Arabia called us and said they would give us €10m net per year to go there. We did not even consider it.”

He also stressed how negotiations could have escalated significantly, including the potential commission involved.

He added: “€10m per year? Tell me how many would refuse that. It could have gone up to €15m, even €20m per year. It could have reached €100m over five years. I would have taken a commission of €20-30m. But we were not interested.”

Spurs Radu Dragusin attracts interest from Germany

As it stands, the Romanian centre-back currently earns £4,420,000 per year at Spurs, and having turned down a lucrative offer from the Middle East, it is clear Dragusin believes he still has plenty to offer in Europe.

It is also a clear indication that the centre-back is not motivated solely by money.

Still speaking on the winter window, Radu Dragusin’s agent also confirmed that the defender attracted interest from the Bundesliga, indicating that options in Europe remain open.

According to Florin Manea, RB Leipzig made an approach, and while no deal materialised, the relationship remains active. Speaking on the iAM Stucan podcast, he continued: “There was an offer for him in the winter from Leipzig. Now we will see if they want to try again or not.”
