Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers has been speaking about one of his former players, James Maddison, and claims Tottenham Hotspur have one of the best players in the Premier League now.
After trailing the player for years, Tottenham finally landed James Maddison this summer. The England international joined the Lilywhites in a £40 million deal from Leicester City (The Guardian).
Maddison was unable to prevent his former side from slipping into the Championship last season, with the Foxes losing their top-flight status for the first time since 2014.
He was offered the opportunity to remain in the Premier League by Tottenham and has certainly made the most of it.
Maddison has bagged two goals and registered two assists in his first four games for the North London side (Transfermarkt), and has been instrumental in helping Ange Postecoglou make an unbeaten start to his life as Spurs boss.

So far, Maddison has not only been a standout in the Spurs team, but has been one of the star performers in the division this year. And his former boss, Brendan Rodgers, has high praise for the playmaker.
He told talkSPORT: “He has really developed. When I first went to Leicester he had things he had to work on but his talent was clear. He really lives the game. His personality is fantastic but he’s a top-level player so I’m delighted for him.
“And also going into Tottenham with Ange [Postecoglou] he’s an attacking coach and James suits an attacking style, he has to have a manager who will attack the game and that will be a great fit for him.
“Tottenham as a club are steeped in history, really good football, so he’ll fit perfectly into that. I can’t speak highly enough of him, as a young guy – amazing – and he’s one of the top players in the Premier League.”
