Brennan Jonhson has admitted that he has to bust his lungs to get into the box quickly whenever Timo Werner gets the ball, given how fast and direct the German is.
Werner’s arrival has undoubtedly proven a major boost to Tottenham in their quest for Champions League qualification, with the wide-forward having five goal contributions to his name in 11 Premier League appearances so far (Transfermarkt).
The 28-year-old is growing in confidence with every game and arguably produced his best performance in the Spurs shirt against Nottingham Forest, proving a livewire down the left all game.
Werner’s cross was deflected into his own net by Murrilo to give the home side the lead last Sunday and the German almost set up another goal, with his low cross finding Johnson, whose shot from point-blank rage was somehow saved by Matz Sels in the Forest goal.

Timo Werner is one of the fastest at Tottenham
Johnson admitted that it is not easy to keep up with the on-loan Leipzig man, given the pace and directness with which he attacks.
The Welshman told Stadium Astro about Werner: “Yeah I think he’s a player I knew about and I knew his qualities, he’s so fast and good on both feet, when he gets the ball and takes it down the line I feel like I have to be in position because he’s so fast and I have to catch up with him.
“It’s the same on the other side, when I get the ball to cross it he’s always in the right areas. I think even before the own goal against Luton he was in the right area, it’s just things like that.”

We have already seen Werner and Johnson get on the end of each other’s crosses several times over the last few weeks, with the pair appearing to have clicked quite well.
That is perhaps not surprising as they are both quite similar players, always taking the aggressive option and looking to get the ball into the box at every opportunity.
